THRIVE Chicken Salad Sailboat Sandwiches
You are going to love this easy chicken salad sandwich recipe! It is fun to make for an after school snack, or for a luncheon with friends. Best of all, when you use THRIVE, all of the ingredients are ready to use and it makes everything easier for you.
Super Easy Chicken Salad
- 1 1/2 Cups THRIVE Freeze Dried Chicken
- 1/2 Cups THRIVE Freeze Dried Celery
- 1/3 Cups THRIVE Freeze Dried Onions
- 3 Cups Water
- 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
- 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1/2 Cup grapes (optional)
- 1/4 Cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Croissants, Rolls, or Crackers to serve it on
- Colored paper for sail (optional)
Combine chicken, celery, onions, and water in a bowl. Stir well. Cover and place in refrigerator for 10 minutes. In a separate bowl mix mayonnaise, mustard, salt and pepper. When chicken is reconstituted, stir it together with the mayonnaise mixture. It will be slightly runny. Cool the chicken salad for 1 1/2 hours. Just before serving, stir in the grapes and walnuts. Serve on crackers, rolls, or croissants.
To make a paper sail, just cut out a triangle and punch two holes in it to slide a toothpick through it.
I have also make chicken salad sandwiches with chicken that I have canned myself. Both options are super easy and your kids will love it. Enjoy!
