Everyone loves a good fairy tale! Imagine letting your children or grandchildren view some of these great varieties and then bringing them to life in a garden setting. Today I am going to suggest a few varieties of tomatoes that will create a fairy tale in your own back yard. Let’s begin with the beautiful Snow White!

Snow White Cherry Tomatoes

Snow White is an heirloom variety cherry tomato that is beautiful, white and sweet! What a great pick for your garden. 74 days to harvest.

Black Cherry Tomato

The Black Cherry Tomato (also called Chocolate Cherry Tomato) seeds are difficult to find, but are worth the hunt. They have a lovely black and red color, and a sweet cherry tomato flavor. Growing 65 days to harvest.

Green Grape Tomato

Green Grape Tomatoes are a great pick for those who aren’t afraid to try a green tomato. These are prolific, and taste terrific!

Sun Gold

Sun Gold Tomatoes are pretty orange colored bite-sized tomatoes. Another great choice for fun color and variety. The Sun Gold Cherry is considered one of the sweetest cherry tomatoes around. These plants bear lots of fruit, ripen early, and produce heavily. A single plant can produce well over 1000 tomatoes!

Tomato Berry

Tomato Berries are simply beautiful! Sweet little heart shaped cherry tomatoes will delight all of your little fairy tale gardeners. The award-winning “Tomato Berries” by Tokita Seed Company are being featured in restaurants throughout Japan, and hopefully in your home garden too!

Lemon Drop

Lemon Drop Tomatoes are happy yellow colored tomatoes that could add some brightness to your salads and veggie trays. These plants produce huge clusters of lemon-green colored cherry tomatoes. Flavor is tart-sweet and delicious right off the vine. They even perform well in cool weather. 80-90 days to harvest.

Red Pear Tomato

Red Pear Tomatos are just as cute as the yellow pear tomatoes and are one of the oldest heirlooms available. Red Pear plants are extremely prolific and produce late into the season. 65-75 days from planting to production. You may also want to consider yellow pear tomatoes, which are one of our family favorites.

No matter what you choose to plant in your fairy tale garden, be sure and get your kids involved. I have found that if they help plant and take care of the plants, they are more likely to want to eat them. Having them eat tomatoes off the vine may have been like a fairytale in the past, but now it can be a reality!

Happy planting and eating. Plant your seeds right away so you can enjoy them all season long!

These seed varieties were found at Trade Winds Fruit Store and at Territorial Seed Company.
