100 Days of Preparedness

Friends,

We decided to offer a fun preparedness series that everyone can complete in the next 100 days. This series is intended to help families who are wondering where to start with their preparations in simple easy steps.

We will be offering ten tips in each of the following categories.

  1. Home Preparedness
  2. 72 Hour kits
  3. Documents
  4. Sanitation
  5. Power Outages
  6. Food Storage
  7. Medical Preparedness
  8. Kids
  9. Super Hero Kits
  10. On the Road

Assignment #1.

Last summer there were a number of uncontrolled fires that caused emergency evacuations in our area. Families in other areas of our state were evacuated because of a gas leak and flooding issues. There are many reasons you could be evacuated from your home. Having an emergency evacuation plan will make this process easier for your family.

  • Watch the 3 minute youtube video and decide how you would  fair in this scenario. Could you easily evacuate your home in 10 minutes or less?
  • Make a list of items that you would want to take with you. Consider needs of every family member, including pets.
  • Delegate assignments to family members who can assist in an emergency evacuation.
  • Post your evacuation plan near your garage door or by your 72 hour kits.
  • If you want to go a step further, you could make a list of things you would do if you had 30 minutes to evacuate as well.

We will have you practice an evacuation at a later time in this series. For now, just follow the above steps!

website, and I used to go to see this webpage everyday.
