Preparedness Deficit Disorder, also known as PDD, is highly common. However, by following the suggestions and ideas presented on this blog, we feel certain that there is a cure and full recovery for PDD! These easy steps will eliminate the symptoms and replace them with peace, joy, and an opportunity to assist others should a disaster occur.

Causes

  1. failure to actively make physical, educational, or financial steps towards preparedness
  2. uncertainty of where to begin
  3. fear of not knowing how to start
  4. lack of finances
  5. lack of knowledge

Symptoms

  1. procrastination, forgetfulness, or failure to start preparing
  2. entertaining thoughts like “disasters will ever happen to me,” or “it will never happen here”
  3. frequent shifts in conversation and rapid breathing when preparedness topics are mentioned
  4. spending time and resources on things that could go towards preparedness items or education

Prevention

Teach children when they are young to be aware and to prepare for all types of disasters and emergencies.  It is important to educate, practice, and plan for a large variety of natural and other disasters. It is impossible to prepare for everything, but it is possible to prepare for many things.
